KRISTIN GENTRY
Kristin, 23, is a Stillwater resident and Oklahoma State University fine art student.
She is a senior on the Dean’s Honor Roll at OSU, describing herself as “a Native American woman artist who works very hard to represent both my Native people and my heritage in my art.” She graduated from Tulsa Community College in 2005 as an Honors Scholar and attended the University of Tulsa before transferring to OSU in 2007.
Her work ranges from digital photography to woodblock hand-printed prints to watercolor painting, and she has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout the state, including popular Oklahoma City event Biting The Apple. She is also a member of Individual Artists of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Council.
The Girlie Show scholarship fund was established in 2007 and is awarded once a year to one deserving Oklahoma female art or design student of any age from any area of the state.
Scholarship applications for 2009 will be available at the upcoming Girlie Show, scheduled for November 7 and 8 at Farmer’s Public Market Building in Oklahoma City, and will be available online following the show, at www.thegirlieshow.net.

5 TIPS FOR LIVING AN INSPIRED LIFE
Well, obviously when you click on this link...and you WILL click on this link!...you will notice that this is a "mommy" website. Yes, we are mommies, what of it? Believe me, it's very glamorous! There's some good stuff out there on the web that applies to our creative lives, whether we are single, married, with kids, without...this is valuable stuff for everyone.
Hopefully you will take a minute to read through these 5 Tips for Living an Inspired Life from Healthy Green Moms. Here's a snippit from this very smart insightful chick, Monica:
"I often searched for the inspirational map that would give me insight on my unique gifts and live more in sync with my passions. I also recognized early on that regular jobs were unfulfilling. I knew that spending a lifetime working jobs I did not love would be creative suicide. There was only one problem. I had very little inspiration and therefore no idea which direction to take."
Felt like this? It's very common to get stuck in a creative rut...maybe this will lift you up a bit and inspire you to get your gift in gear and use it and use your life!!!

CHECK HER OUT!
our latest interviewee....
GIRLIE SHOW ARTIST OF THE MONTH....
Brandi Twilley
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
A Self Portrait by Brandi Twilley...so cool!
GS: What do you create?
BT: prints, drawings, and paintings
GS: What projects are you working on right now?
BT: I am working on a series of small etchings about the things that bother me most these days like waste, greed, and indifference. I'm approaching it in sort of the way Renaissance artists would make allegories. I'm trying to find some sort of figurative expression for these things.
GS: Where/How/Why did this all begin?
BT: I've been making art since as early as I can remember.
GS: As a 2007 artist, what about The Girlie Show rocked your world?
BT: I liked the idea of being a part of an all female art show. It was the most fun I've had showing art.
GS: The Girlietini: friend or foe?
BT: I didn’t have one, but I bet I'd have liked it.
Skeleton Models by Brandi Twilley...work it!
GS: What are you totally obsessed with these days?
BT: I am sort of between obsessions right now. I was obsessed with Mexican art and "skeleton people." I think I am going to get back into painting on masonite and ceramic sculpture. I've been obsessed with finding a studio space where that would be possible.
GS: Tell us something completely random and quite possibly useless.
BT: I didn't get sick once this winter. I think it's because I've been taking my vitamins.
GS: What’s on your iPod/music player right now?
BT: I don't have an i-pod but I’ve got "She don't use Jelly" stuck in my head.
GS: If you were a shoe, what shoe would you be?
BT: I'd be my green Steve Madden sneakers that I've been wearing for four years.
GS: What do you secretly wish you could do/be?
BT: I secretly wish I could sing.
GS: Do you have any collections?
BT: I have a collection of pottery shards collected from beaches around Massachusetts. The beaches there have been harbors for several hundred years, so the pieces I have are really old and interesting.
GS: For more info on Brandi's latest works, check her out at www.branditwilley.com. We love us some skeleton model's...fabulous! What a talented gal! Thanks Brandi!!!
